Drag Pavilion
Drag Pavilion

The Drag Pavilion is located at the northwest corner of Kaifeng City, built in 1692 during the reign of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty. The palatial pavilion is built on a thirteen-meter-high blue brick terrace with 72 steps. It is covered with golden glazed tiles and has graceful upturned eaves. On a plaque carved two dragons playing with a pearl and that is why the pavilion got its name.

Dragon Pavilion is a typical representative of the cultural and historical heritages of Kaifeng. Dragon Pavilion is also a favorable place to get a bird's eye view of Kaifeng City. In a word, travelers can have a visual feast here.

In front of the Dragon Pavilion is a straight road, surrounded by a blue

clear lake. The western lake is called "Lake of Family Yang" and the eastern called "Lake of Family Pan". Both families are renowned in the Song period, the Yang for their loyalty and honesty and the Pan for their treachery.

To the west of the Dragon Pavilion is the Waxwork Hall. Inside, nine group of vivid waxworks are exhibited which respectively reflect the important events during the reign of nine emperors of the Song Dynasty. All clothing of the figures even the color and style of their hats and ribbons are historically accurate, making a mirror of Song Dynasty.
