Dry Sea

Located on the east foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Dry Sea - with an elevation of 3,100m - is a highland meadow about 23km from the old town. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Dry Sea used to be a highland lake. However, when the water dried up, a vast meadow formed, hence the name "Dry Sea".

Extensive and tranquil, the meadow is about 5km long and 2km wide. When you are there you will feel that the field of vision is extremely vast. It seems that this is the Xanadu. The big and comfortable green grassland looks like a blanket, stretching itself into the great distance. During a particular time between every spring and summer various kinds of flowers are in blossom with a spirit of competition. At this time the whole area will become a sea of flowers. At the Dry Sea you can be assured of a panoramic view of the Jade Dragon Snow mountainbecause Dry Sea is the closest and best place to witness the beauty of the moutain. In addition to the view, there are many kinds of convenience facilities and areas to rest for visitors.

Today, many ethnic group villages, resorts, parks, racetracks and golf courses have been built on Dry Sea, which has become an important tourist spot for Lijiang.
