Shennong Stream

Shennong Stream, a 60-kilometer tributary of the Yangtze River, originating at Shennongjia Natural Reserve in Hubei Province, enters the Yangtze River at the eastern mouth of the Wu Gorge.

Along Shengnong Stream, majestically tower Mianzu (Bamboo) George, Yingwu (Parrot) George and Nong chang Grorge. Mianzhu Gorge is noticeable for precipitousness, while Yingwu Gorge is famous for its natural beauty, and Longchang Gorge is noted for its magnificence.

Between Yinwu Gorge and Longchuan Gorge, there is a section about 20 kilometers for drifting. Drifting fast on crystal clear water by taking a small hand-rowing boat at a fast rate of speed and peeking the unique and charming landscape, you will find it a thrilling and an exciting experience.

Luxuriant vegetations, fragrant flowers, sporting monkeys, appearing and disappearing Mongolian gazelle and river deer, flying swallow and swimming fishes form a beautiful picture of mountain forests. There are over 60 limestone cave on both banks of the stream. There are over 30 rapids, shoals and bays, which are depicted as "a mile stream with 3 bays, a bay with a shoal". Jade-green pools, grand waterfalls, hanging coffins on the precipice, a plank roadway local customs lure thousands and hundreds of travelers.
